The event was concluded with a performance from SW Dance, who showed us their amazing freestyle, hip-hop and contemporary dance routines. A big thanks to our judges, Carrie of Carrie-May School of Performing Arts, Suzie Wallington of SW Dance and Morgan Whiting, an award-winning competitive hip-hop dancer.
Picnic on the Meads was next, with live music from The Fleetville Swing Band (www.fleetvilleswingband.co.uk) and dance performances - plus an interactive dance class - from Jive Swing (www.jiveswing.com). The dancefloor was a wash with people of all ages learning how to do the lindy-hop! The No.7 Band (www.no7music.com) came back to join us once again and inevitably had the dancefloor full with people singing their hearts out! A beautiful firework display concluded the night - which was sponsored by the following local businesses:
2by2 Holidays, Cartridge King, Golden Elephant, Hamptons/John Curtis, Lamburn & Turner, Lyall Youngman, Nihao Restaurant, Nonpareil, The Swan, The Elephant & Castle, T&B Contractors, Titmuss, William Scott & Associates, Total Legacy Care and Farr Brew.

Village Day took place on the Sunday and started off with a bang - this year we were lucky enough to have the Rampage Mas Band leading the parade with their crazy, colourful costumes and loud music - all inkeeping with our theme of 'Carnival'.
The arena saw performances from the Ballet Trio, Bollywood Dancers, Cara Binder with her hoop skills, amazing magic shows from Kevin Burke and a martial arts demo from Kaisho Martial Arts. As well as our usual community and charity stalls, we had a circus skills workshop, a story corner, games for the children, a running track and so much more.
The event was concluded with the announcement of the winner of the 2by2 Holidays/WEB holiday competition for 9 nights in South Africa worth an amazing £2,000, among other competitions that had been running throughout the day.
The success of this year was down to not only the existing volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the weekend, but also the addition of those who newly volunteered for this year doing 1-2 hour slots during all three events. If you were one of those volunteers, thank you again for all of your help. And if you would like to become a volunteer for future events, drop us an email at info@wheathampstead-pc.gov.uk and we will be in touch.
