Village Weekend 2017 - Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July
"It was an amazing event and makes me feel so blessed and proud to be living in such a beautiful village with such amazing community" - Michelle
"Thank you so much for all the organising - it was a great and we loved the new additions to Village Day today. It was fab" - Lucy
Once again, Wheathampstead’s favourite weekend of events has been a great success. Saturday hosted a wealth of live entertainment, which began with Wheathampstead’s Got Talent. Our well deserving winners were:
Best Dance Act: Lily and Sophie, aged 11, with a ballet performance.
Best Entertainment Act: Helen, aged 6, with a violin solo.
Best Singing Act and Overall Winner: Zach, aged 10, singing Shape of You by Ed Sheeran.
This was followed by the ever popular Picnic on the Meads, which saw performances from Christine and the Stackyard Stompers, Lydia Haynes and the No.7 Band. After a lot of energetic dancing from both adults and kids, the evening was brought to an end with a brilliant fireworks display that was sponsored by local businesses.
Sunday concluded the weekend with our 22nd Village Day that brought families together for a day of entertainment based around our theme 'When I Grow Up', which included a bird of prey show from Eagle Heights, Bollywood dancers, Village Races, woodwork demoing from Treewright and so much more.
The Parish Council would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved - these events cannot run without the help of volunteers and the community so if you can offer one or two hours of your time to help next year, please send Ellie an email at info@wheathampstead-pc.gov.uk.
